Behind the Brief: Styling a Brand Shoot at Our London Studio

Every brand shoot starts with a brief. But honestly? The magic happens in the messy middle - all those styling decisions between "here's the brief" and "here's your final images." Pulling back the curtain on how we approach styling for a typical shoot at our Bermondsey studio.

Brand first, trends second. Before we so much as touch a garment, we're asking: what does this brand actually stand for? Who's it talking to? Where are these images actually going to live? Styling should back that up — not just chase whatever's having a main character moment on the FYP this month.

The shot list follows the styling, not the other way round. Once we've nailed the looks, we sequence the day so similar setups (backdrop, lighting, props) get grouped together. Keeps things moving and means outfit changes aren't eating into your shoot time.

It's the little things that make it look expensive. Steaming, pinning, fit checks — unglamorous, unphotogenic, and 100% the difference between images that look professional and images that just look... fine. We build this in from the start, not bolt it on as an afterthought.

We leave room to pivot on the day. No matter how tight the plan, something always shifts once you see a look under studio lights. Our creative direction stays flexible enough to adjust mid-shoot without losing the whole vision.
